Induction
SIATech’s Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) Induction Program provides formative assessment, individualized support, and advanced content for newly-credentialed, beginning teachers, and is the pathway to a California Clear Teaching Credential. SIATech offers other instructors who operate outside of California the same opportunity to experience professional growth through this program.
The main focus of SIATech’s BTSA Induction program is to support teachers new to the profession for a minimum of two years. This program emphasizes the need for teachers to engage in reflection and application through the cycle of Plan - Teach - Reflect - Apply. The two year program’s outline is:
- Year One - supporting professional growth in general teaching methods including classroom management, instructional strategies such as differentiation, and assessment strategies.
- Year Two - focusing on the content and pedagogical approaches to content delivery.
SIATech’s experienced instructors partner with Participating Teachers to support this professional growth. These Support Provider/Mentors meet weekly with the participating teachers to provide insight, advice, a listening ear, give feedback and to be a general mentor as well as an encourager. The support provider also guides the participating teacher through the formative assessment program.
